US Route 371 runs through rural areas and small cities in southwestern Arkansas and northwestern Louisiana. The northern end is at US Route 71 in Lockesburg, Arkansas. From there, US Route 371 heads east to Prescott, where it meets Interstate 30. That's where US Route 371 really starts heading south to Magnolia, Arkansas; Minden, Lousiana; and Coushatta, Louisiana. US Route 371 crosses the Red River from Coushatta to Armistead, Louisiana, coming to an end shortly after at Interstate 49.
My photo of US Route 371 is the northbound trailblazer at Arkansas Route 19 in Prescott, Arkansas. The sign actually faces east toward westbound traffic, because this intersection marks the point where US Route 371 transitions from east-west to north-south. (It was in the morning, so the sun was to the east, making the lighting favorable.) The photo was taken in October, 2014, as part of the return trip from the first jaunt to the Gulf Coast. That return trip involved Interstate 30 through this area, which lies just to the west and north. Back to the nationwide main page. Back to the home page.
