​​Michigan Highway 102 forms the northern edge of Detroit, running along "8 Mile Road."  That's right; we're talking about that "8 Mile Road", referenced by Eminem. It has a state highway designation, with the number 102.  Michigan Highway 102's western beginning is a split from Michigan Highway 5, which is Grand River Avenue.  Michigan Highway 102 is a divided boulevard with Michigan lefts for its whole length, east to the eastern end.  The eastern end of Michigan Highway 102 is at a north-south portion of Interstate 94 trying to divert around Lake St. Clair; the shoreline of the lake is only a couple of miles farther east.  The interchange with Interstate 94 home to this eastern terminus is by Grosse Pointe Woods.

My photo of Michigan Highway 102 shows a westbound reassurance marker for vehicles that turned off of Michigan Highway 1.  Michigan Highway 102 and Michigan Highway 1 meet at a volleyball interchange along the southern edge of Ferndale. The signage depicted faces east to show westbound travelers what route they're on.  This photo was taken during the trip around Metro Detroit and the Michigan Thumb in April 2021.
