Interstate 470 is a short bypass around Wheeling, West Virginia, and the Wheeling Tunnel. It exists as an alternate to Interstate 70, which has narrow width clearances and limited height clearances because of the tunnel through Wheeling's worrisome topography. In Ohio, Interstate 470 only has two exits besides the initial split with Interstate 70. Passing between Bridgeport and Bellaire, it lies just south of Interstate 70.
As with all of the Ohio Interstate pages, more information and a full exit list will come in the future. For now, enjoy this general information and a photo of the signage, in a similar fashion to how I do the state and US highway pages.
My photo of Interstate 470 signage comes from Exit 3 to High Ridge Road, a local road winding its way west out of Bellaire. People approaching the interchange on the local road from the south will see the junction marker depicted, which I photographed in March 2021. The photo was one of many as I was touring around the southeastern quarter of Ohio. Back to the Ohio Interstates page. Back to the Ohio main page. Back to the home page.
