^This sign is supposed to say "North Illinois 148/East Illinois 154", but it's wrong. Still, this counts as a scene looking down Illinois 154 in Sesser, September 2021.

Illinois 154 is a somewhat significant east-west route in the western half of southern Illinois.  It runs west from the Interstate 57 corridor which bisects the southern part of the state, through areas south of Mount Vernon and Saint Louis, but north of Marion and Carbondale.

Illinois 154 begins in the west at the junction in Red Bud with Illinois 3 and Illinois 159.  Here, Illinois 3 comes from the south and turns to the west, and Illinois 159 spawns at this point to go north...

At Sparta, Illinois 154 crosses Illinois 4:

Just east of Sparta, at the hamlet of Eden, Illinois 154 meets the southern end of Illinois 153 at a "wye" intersection:

Illinois 154 meets Illinois 150 at that route's northeastern endpoint, north of Cutler:

At a roundabout on the west side of Pinckneyville, Illinois 13 comes from the northwest and joins Illinois 154 east...

At the heart of Pinckneyville, Illinois 154 crosses Illinois 127, where Illinois 13 turns to the south to join Illinois 127 in that direction:

Illinois 154, now on its own, crosses US Route 51:

At Sesser, Illinois 154 joins Illinois 148 north for a short distance:

At the northern end of the short concurrency with Illinois 148, Illinois 154 turns east to go its own way once more:

After crossing the causeway across Rend Lake, Illinois 154 meets an interchange with Interstate 57...

Shortly after the interchange with Interstate 57, Illinois 154 reaches its western end at Illinois 37 near Whittington.
