Indiana State Route 212 is a short north-south connector on the northeast side of Michigan City, at the eastern extent of Indiana's Lake Michigan shoreline. A makeshift cloverleaf interchange marks the southern end of Indiana Route 212 at US Route 20, at a point just east of Michigan City and just west of Interstate 94's interchange with US Route 20. From there, Indiana Route 212 heads north to end at US Route 12, just southwest of Michigan's southwest corner. The entire route flanks Michigan City just to that city's east.
