Indiana State Route 931 marks two separate sections of roadway, both former alignments of US Route 31 in north-central Indiana. The first Indiana Route 931 starts at the south end of South Bend, and continues south to end abruptly at the Marshall/St. Joseph County line, just north of La Paz. The other, more southerly segment of Indiana Route 931, basically serves as a business route for US Route 31 through Kokomo, with interchange access to US Route 31 at both ends. Both routes are the result of US Route 31 being moved to a new expressway bypass constructed to the east.
My photo for Indiana State Route 931 sits along US Route 35, where it crosses the northern reaches of the southern piece of Route 931 in Kokomo. The sign faces west to eastbound drivers on US Route 35, meaning the aperture is facing east. Farther east, ahead into the photo, US Route 35 joins US Route 31 south via a partial interchange with access to/from the south only. Turning left onto Indiana Route 931 will lead to a partial interchange with access to/from the north only, marking the end of that section of Indiana Route 931. This photo was taken in February 2017.
