US Route 130 is a short northeast-southwest highway in western and central New Jersey. The route begins at an interchange by the eastern approach of the Delaware Memorial Bridge, the freeway bridge that carries Interstate 295 and US Route 40 over the lowest portions of Delaware River. That bridge leads to Delaware on its western side. Anyway, US Route 130 heads northeast from this area of Deepwater, New Jersey, roughly along the eastern banks of the Delaware. It enters the Philadelphia area, specifically the eastern suburbs found in New Jersey. At Bordentown, US Route 130 continues northeasterly, even as the Delaware River bends. US Route 130 finally gets the courage to head inland into New Jersey, away from the western edge of the state. It passes through East Windsor, and bends northward. US Route 130 ends at US Route 1 just south of New Brunswick, New Jersey.
My photo of US Route 130 comes from a junction with a local road in Penns Grove, near the south end of the route. Interstate 295 and US Route 40 jump onto the Delaware Memorial Bridge just south of here. US Route 130 bends from northward to northeastward as Maple Avenue splits off to the northwest. Because the Y-intersection at this site is less intuitive to navigate, New Jersey's DOT provided this trailblazer for those continuing off to the northeast on US Route 130. This photo was taken in April 2024, during my trip across Pennsylvania, the Delmarva, and the Carolinas.
